The Kordofan Journal of Medical & Health Sciences (KJMHS) was founded by the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Kordofan, El-Obeid, Sudan, as part of the university’s mission to promote scientific research and enhance the dissemination of medical knowledge within Sudan and beyond.

The inaugural issue of KJMHS was published in 2023, marking a significant milestone in the academic development of the University of Kordofan and the wider Kordofan region. The establishment of the journal reflected a growing need for a regional platform dedicated to publishing high-quality, peer-reviewed research in clinical and health sciences, particularly studies addressing local and national health priorities.

Since its inception, the journal has maintained a biannual publication schedule, releasing two issues per year — typically in June and December. Each issue includes a blend of original research articles, review papers, case reports, short communications, and editorials spanning diverse disciplines such as medicine, nursing, public health, and basic sciences.

The editorial board of KJMHS comprises experienced academicians, clinicians, and researchers from the University of Kordofan and other national and international institutions. Over time, the journal has enhanced its editorial and peer-review standards, adopting a double-blind review policy and aligning its processes with international publishing ethics (COPE guidelines).

With continued efforts toward digitalization, indexing, and open-access visibility, KJMHS strives to strengthen its role as a trusted academic resource for healthcare professionals, educators, and policy-makers — contributing to the advancement of health sciences in Sudan and the global scientific community.
